The notion of agent will be given with the aim of reducing the unnecessary perplexity surrounding the agent-systems conceptual framework.After a brief discussion about the origin of this paradigm to represent complex systems, a specific discussion will follow to describe the application of the concept of agent to the fields of computational modelling and artificial intelligence.
