I create bold, evocative portraits that challenge the traditional narrative by using nontraditional skin tones. My work explores identity, beauty standards, and emotion, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and connect with the deeper layers of the subject. By moving away from "naturalistic" colors, I encourage introspection and a reevaluation of assumptions about identity. Through my portraits, I aim to capture the emotional strength and complexity of individuals, fostering connection and understanding beyond superficial judgments.
Although portraits are the main focus of my work, I also create florals. My floral paintings are inspired by my passion for recycling and minimizing waste. The process starts at thrift shops, where I find discarded, mass-produced artwork to transform. After cleaning and priming, I use acrylic paint (often leftover) to add textured underlayers, then carve through a second layer of fresh paint to reveal the colors beneath. The result is less waste as well as an original and beautiful art piece.

I make my own floating frames! The frames have a waxed natural wood finish to complement the colorful work.
