Plant breeding encompasses my two professional passions: molecular biology and plants. After completing my PhD in Biological Sciences in Argentina, I did a postdoc in Switzerland. My passion has led me to my current position, where I am establishing a plant gene editing platform at the Center for Agricultural Genomics Research (CRAG) in Spain as part of the Momentum program.
December 2024 - Present
Oversee the setup and organization of the tissue culture lab and gene-editing platformĀ
Manage procurement of consumables, reagents, and equipment, including tissue culture media and CRISPR reagents
Define project milestones, timelines, and budgets for the gene-editing platform Ā
Establish species-specific transformation and in vitro propagation protocolsĀ Ā
Train and supervise lab personnel in sterile techniques, transformation protocols, and plant regeneration methodsĀ
Implement machine learning tools for the optimization of the gene editing process, gene-target selection, and phenotype analysis of edited plants.
May 2019 - June 2024
Led and managed research projects in CRISPR-mediated gene editing, biotic and abiotic stress signaling, and genetic regulation of seed germination in diverse plant systems
Collaborated with 4 research groups (India, France, USA, Switzerland).
Trained team members in several molecular biology techniques
Teaching assistant in three undergraduate biology courses at the University of LausanneĀ
Successfully managed internal and external stakeholdersā expectationsĀ
Main achievements: Efficiently managed projects that produced publications in top-tier scientific journals. Successfully generated project end products within or even beyond scope and within schedule. Effectively transferred technical knowledge to team members
January 2019 - April 2019
Invited scientist to learn and apply the ChiP-seq technology to focus on the study of epigenetic marks' deposition as part of an international collaboration (Marie SkÅodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange - RISE)
Main Achievements: Learned and successfully applied the ChiP-seq technique within the given time frame. Strengthened my ability to adapt to new and complex environments
April 2014 - December 2018
Led and managed projects in the molecular and genetic bases of plant flowering and reproduction
Successfully collaborated with 3 research groups producing scientific publications in top-tier journals
Supervised and trained undergraduate students
Main achievements: Acquired strong adaptability and time management skills together with problem solving and risk management. Generated data, wrote, and edited peer-reviewed research articles as the first author. Successfully applied several molecular biology protocols.
