ITALIAN SCHOOL ON MAGNETISM

V Edition

Roma 03 - 07 February 2020

The Book of Abstract is available here

The 5th Italian School on Magnetism follows a series of highly successful biyearly schools promoted by the Italian Magnetism Association (AIMagn) and started in Pavia in 2012 (following editions: Parma - 2014, Milano - 2016 and Torino - 2018).

Following the tradition of the School, the 5th edition will provide training in the basic principles of magnetism and magnetics thorough a broad series of fundamental lectures, while offering the latest insights into up-to-date aspects of magnetism and applications of magnetic materials with lectures focusing on specific topics. To promote the dissemination of science, the School also includes an evening event of divulgation character.

The School is addressed to Italian and foreigner graduate and PhD students, as well as to post-doc and young researchers.

The 5th edition of the Italian School of Magnetism will be organized by the Nanostructured Magnetic Materials group, nM2-Lab (Istituto di Struttura della Materia - CNR and DCCI - University of Genova). It will be held on February 3th – 7th, 2020 at the Santa Maria delle Fornaci Hotel in the heart of Rome and just a few steps from St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican City.

To stimulate the discussion between students and lecturers, we strongly encourage the participants to book the room in the same hotel where the conference will be held. The Hotel is staffed 24 hours a day and is fully air conditioned. A free Wi-Fi connection will be offered for all the participants. Organizers have negotiated special discounted rates for the attendees at the hotel. he option is valid up to November 30th December 15th for a limited number of rooms. More information can be found here.

Students are invited to present prepare a poster to present their scientific activity. More information can be found here.

The INSTM (National Interuniversity Consortium of Materials Science and Technology) will offer a grant covering the registration fee for three young researchers (max 7 years after the PhD) affiliated to a research unit of the INSTM consortium. To apply for the grant, send your CV at school2020.aimagn@gmail.com specifying name and affiliation. The INSTM together with AIMagn will grant an award (€ 150) for the three best posters presented at the School. A panel of judges will select the best poster on the basis of the following criteria: clarity, self-explanatory and layout
