Dr. Trakela "Doc T" Wright-Hicks

"It is amazing to embrace the inner child in me, execute all knowledge learned, contribute to experiences, and change lives while providing service to others. Therefore, I am always "aiming4one" person to help every day."

I am excited to bring you S.O.U.R.C.E. Outreach Program! An organization built upon the joy of working with children, the passion of a scientist, and educator experiences. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), I have found myself introduced to STEM in 2002 as an AmeriCorps State service member working with preschoolers. My growth in STEM arose when a colleague asked me to advise 9th-grade students participating in 4-H's National Youth Science Day

As a result, I transitioned back into education as a SMART (STEM) Lab Facilitator in 2015 as I enjoyed embracing all of my passions in one space. Over the years, I have gained a plethora of experience attending training workshops, camps, and more to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to be versatile in STREAM. I have also worked as a Geospatial Analyst, Environmental Chemist, and Biosurveillance Scientist for various federal agencies.Β

My progression in STREAM education reflects participation in programs that includes but is not limited to: Creative Learning Systems (SmartLabs), FIRST Lego League, AmeriCorps (State & National): Jumpstart, National Science Teacher Association (NSTA), the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Inst & Recruitment Fair, Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, & Related Sciences (M.A.N.R.R.S.), and many other organizations.Β
