Getting started on the right foot is more than an old adage. It's the key to a successful college and professional career. Our students understand that employers want to hire people who show up with experience, confidence, and professional skills. And with the help of our tools and resources, Ball State students experience higher retention rates, higher job placement rates, and higher employer-satisfaction rates than their peers at other universities.

I have a SS in the 88-91 range and in the past have played the e6, but a couple years ago moved to the e12. Has a nice feel, is a 3-piece ball (not urethane) . Then for awhile was alternating between the e12 and Stixon Q-Star Tour. The both have a very similar feel and distance but I think the Q-Star gives me better green side behavior.

What does the Compression number represent?

Mm? Kg?

How far a ball will compress under a constant pressure (like measuring spring force)?

% of deflection when compressed to a certain height?

For the 2021 ball test, every ball in the test had a compression value, but some (Bridgestone Tour RXS is one example), are not included in the chart above. Were the compression values in the ball test done differently? They for the most part seem close for the balls listed but often different by one or two.

These are the type of impartial tests that players can really use. At one point in time the compression of the ball was part of its name. I use to play the Maxfli HT 90 or the Titleist Tour Balata 90. This was a long time ago back in high school and before Al Gore invented the internet. These days I think players should use this data to help their game. Some would argue that you should play the same ball regardless of weather temp but I would suggest that people might have a cold weather ball and a warm weather ball. Maybe have the ProV1X as your warm weather game ball and maybe the AVX when its not going to get above 60 degrees. In any case this is more proof that MGS does a fantastic service for the golfer. They cut through the multi million dollar marketing hype and show us the real data.

These were visual/mechanical tests of the golf balls; not hitting them. Over at Golf.com they did robot testing of light and medium worn range balls. As expected, there were losses of distance with drivers and mid irons. The wedge actually went farther due to lack of spin and lower trajectory. The BIG takeaway was the dispersion.- multiple times larger. Also, the repeatability/consistency was poor. MGS evaluated new range balls, simple two piece isomer cover. Simpler construction along with a thick cover made the new practice balls consistent with each other.

I have played recently with a few yellow Titleist balls. Is there different coating or finish on their yellow balls that keep them looking shinny longer? It appears to be the case after playing with them the past couple of weeks.

The Ball Joint Application Guide is a manual that is used in conjunction with OTC ball joint adapters and "C" frame. The manual provides a Year-Make-Model lookup to determine which ball joint adapters are to be used with the "C" frame to remove and install ball joints. The manual includes a lookup chart that provides removal and installation adapter part numbers and an application diagram section with visual examples of how the tools are oriented for removal and installation.

I use a dremel tool with a cut off wheel to cut the plate into two. If you wish you can round off the corners but for this project I am not. Then take one plate and drill a hole large enough for a 8-32 to pass through. One plate will be tapped with screw threads, one will be large enough that the screw can slide through freely.

This is the tapping tool. It comes with the proper size drill bit. So, you drill a hole with the proper bit, then put this tapping tool in the hole and slowly turn it back and forth until it cuts threads in the hole perfectly fitted to your screw size. These tap sets are pretty cheap ($5 US) but most do not come with the handle. That is sold separately. Use lubrication when cutting threads and your bits will last longer.

This is the dremel tool setup used to cut the plates and the threaded rod. Wear eye protection because fine metal dust will be in the air. I wear a full respirator but at least wear eye protection like wrap around goggles that seal against your face.

These are the brass balls I use. They are not ideal because they are softer than the steel plates and can easily scratch but they are cheap and I can find them right off the shelf at my hardware store. They are drilled and tapped for 8-32 threads when you buy them. I pay about .50 US each for them.

This illustration shows two feet which are the same length, but each require different size shoes. There are different fittings for short-toed feet and long-toed feet. Proper shoe-fitting incorporates not only overall length (heel-to-toe measurement) but also arch length (heel-to-ball measurement). Shoes are designed to flex at the ball of the foot. Correct fitting properly positions the ball joint in the shoe and provides room for the toes so they are not confined.

The foot to the left is correctly fitted. The arch of the shoe and ball joint of the foot meet at the same point. The foot arch is correctly positioned in the shoe. The foot and shoe bend at the same location, with the arch fully supported, allowing the toes to remain straight. There is ample space in front of the toes to allow adequate ventilation. This will ensure a correct and comfortable shoe which will keep its shape.

Place your thumb on the ball joint of the foot (as shown in the photo to the right). Slide the pointer (A on diagram) forward so the inside curve of the pointer fits the ball joint of the foot and the two high ribs come in contact with your thumb. When the pointer is properly located, the lower middle rib will be against the ball joint on the side of the foot (B on diagram). This yields the arch measurement. The arch length represented in the diagram is 8 1/2.

When measuring infants, place the ball indicator to the end of the slot. Hold the heel firmly against heel cup, and rest the inner edge of the foot against the indicator. Press the toes against the device with your thumb and read the toe length. To measure the width, use the diagonal width line which comes in contact with the foot at the widest part.

Our high performance, Ball Rail linear guides protect against potentially harmful contaminants, and consume up to 90% less energy than competing linear guidance systems. Advanced options and measuring are available in this line. For mid-performance we offer a line of basic rails and runner blocks to satisfy many assembly automation, pick & place, and general applications.

There are many well-made sets of L-keys that have the standard straight hex end, but if you are buying the set for life you should strongly consider spending a few extra bucks and get ball-end hex keys. The advantages are simple, but before we get there, a little history.

In 1964, John Bondhus of the Bondhus corporation invented what they trademark as the Balldriver hex key. It was a simple thought, really. What if the end of the hex driver was manufactured to a ball shape so that the hex shape can be inserted at an angle? The idea took off and today ball-end hex keys are made by several manufacturers, including our much-loved German Brands.

Ball End Hex KeysWe all know the German tool brands have the highest of standards when it comes to quality, so it no surprise that they also manufacture some of the best L-keys sets in the world. Wiha, Wera, Gedore and Hazet all make ball-end hex key sets and you can get them all at KC Tool. 17dc91bb1f
