大和田愛子

「水平・垂直」「重力」をテーマに制作を行っている。

地球上の全ての場所、私たちの身体も含めた全てのものに、「重力」の力は働いている。そのため、地球上に存在する限り「重力」からは逃れることはできない。しかし、生まれてから死ぬまで離れることができないであろうこの「重力」は、日常の中では忘れ去られている。なぜだろうか。「重力」を認識するためには何か特別な方法が必要なのか。

そこで私は「水平・垂直」を用いて制作を行う。「水平・垂直」は「重力」から生み出される指標であり、「水平・垂直」という2つの軸線を測定する行為は、「重力」を既存の規格に置き換えて可視化することであると考えるからだ。私の作品は、この2つの軸線によって重力を可視化し、そこにある空間を強く感じさせることを目指している。

My work explores the theme of "horizontality / verticality" and that of "gravity".

Gravity affects everything on Earth, but paradoxically, it remains a phenomenon that is difficult forus to conceive. The horizontality and the verticality are a kind of manifestation of it. Therefor I work on axes of those which is the visible result of gravity on earth.

By manipulating these two axes, my work tries to make visible the effect of this invisible powerand to make us feel intensely the space defined by the work. I want observer to find the sense of gravity in front of my work.

Mon travail explore le thème de « l’horizontalité / la verticalité » et celui de « la gravité ».

La gravité affecte tout endroit et toute chose sur la Terre mais paradoxalement, elle reste un phénomène qui nous est difficile à concevoir.L’horizontalité et la verticalité sont une sorte de manifestation de celle-ci, elles sont générées par cette véritable force de la nature.

En manipulant ces deux orientations, mon travail tente de rendre perceptible l’effet de ce pouvoir invisible et de nous faire ressentir intensément l’espace défini par l’œuvre.
