Tucker joined J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he served as a professor and associate chair. His course, Machine Learning for Trading, is one of the most popular graduate courses at Georgia Tech, with as many as 900 students enrolled each semester. He is also a co-founder of Lucena Research which develops and employs quantitative algorithms and Artificial Intelligence software to augment human investment decision making. Lucena provides software as a service to hedge funds, wealth advisors and individual investors.  

Tucker has published over 150 peer-reviewed conference papers and journal articles in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and AI in Finance.  He recently led the creation of a new conference, the ACM International Conference on AI in Finance (ICAIF).  ICAIF will be held for the 3rd time in November 2022.

Tucker has extensive experience in Machine Learning and AI applied to challenges in Robotics and multi-agent systems. His recent research centers on data-centric modeling and simulation of financial systems, and separately, analyzing the behavior of social animals using computer vision and other tracking technologies.

Tucker has numerous awards and accomplishments including the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award. More recently, his company received the 2018 Innovation Award for Business Impact in Data Science and Analytics from the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG).

Tucker earned a Ph.D., and B.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and an MS in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis.
