Elaine Shi is an Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. Before that she taught at Cornell and University of Maryland. Her research interests include cryptography, algorithms, mechanism design, security, and foundations of blockchains. She co-chaired ACM CCS and earlier, and she is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cryptology. She got her Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and she received numerous awards for her research including the Packard Fellowship, Sloan Fellowship, ONR YIP award, NSA Best Cybersecurity Paper award, Cylab distinguished alumni award, and various best paper awards.
