Mike and Alan are Maggie and Penny's respective boyfriends. They all met at Comic Con and often do couples cosplay, which can be a bit awkward considering Penny's sometimes weird ships. While they get along well with their girlfriends' friends, they weren't particularly sad when Tanya stopped hanging out with them after Nina broke up with her (Lesson One: Vampires).

Even though Mike is Jewish and his family, especially his mother, are observant, he makes an exception for pepperoni - he calls it the Pepperoni Exemption (though his mother would probably disagree). Alan plays Dungeons & Dragons and once invited Penny to join a campaign - it did not go well.

Mike and Alan haven't taken part in any big adventure so far, showing up as minor supporting characters at the end of Lesson One: Vampires and at the start of Rebellion. Alan also briefly showed up in Penny and the Silver Key #1.
