About the Aid Station
Aid Station Pub and Pizza, located in Chapman, Kansas, is more than just a spot for great food and craft beer—it's a tribute to perseverance, endurance, and the camaraderie found in the ultrarunning community. Founded by Will “Iron Will” Sprouse, an ultramarathoner and race director, this one-of-a-kind establishment reflects his remarkable journey and his passion for creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
The Inspiration Behind the Aid Station
In 2020, Will faced an unimaginable challenge—a sudden stroke that left him with a grim prognosis. Doctors believed he might never walk again. For someone who thrived on the challenges of 100-mile ultramarathons, this was a daunting reality. However, Will’s determination proved stronger than any obstacle. Through hard work, discipline, and a refusal to give up, he not only relearned to walk but returned to running ultramarathons within seven months. His recovery inspired the creation of the Aid Station—a place that celebrates the resilience and spirit of all who face challenges head-on.
Celebrating the Spirit of Ultrarunning
Every detail of the Aid Station pays homage to the ultrarunning lifestyle. The walls are adorned with Will’s personal race memorabilia, including belt buckles and bibs from his 100-mile races, each telling a unique story of determination. The bar itself features race bibs set in epoxy, creating a one-of-a-kind design that connects patrons to the world of endurance sports. The Aid Station embodies the mindset of pushing limits and achieving what once seemed impossible.
A Gathering Place for All
The Aid Station is designed to bring people together. Whether you're an ultrarunner stopping by for a well-earned meal, a traveler heading to the Rockies, or a local looking for a cozy spot to share stories, the Aid Station welcomes you. With 17 craft beers on tap and a menu designed to fuel both athletes and food lovers, it’s the perfect space to recharge and connect with others.
A Vision for the Future
Will’s story doesn’t end with his recovery. He saw an opportunity to bring more people into the world of endurance running by founding the Iron Will 100 Mile, Kansas’s first adaptive-friendly ultramarathon. Designed to support athletes of all abilities, this race reflects the same determination and spirit that define the Aid Station. It’s more than a race—it’s an invitation to push beyond limits and accomplish great things.
At Aid Station Pub and Pizza, every meal and drink is a celebration of the human spirit’s ability to overcome obstacles and the friendships formed through shared passions. Whether you’re here for the food, the community, or the inspiration, the Aid Station offers something special for everyone.
