Ai Conversions for Nikon Lenses by John White
Thanks for finding my service. As of January 2026, I am still converting pre-Ai* Nikon lenses although my website is old. Fortunately, the previous one is still accurate in terms of key features (and prices). You can go to the home page of the old site and get started from there or just print the order form. Note: The version on the old site can be filled in electronically.
Note: I will be out of the shop from Jan. 22 through Feb. 3. Your order can arrive safely during that time and I will get to work soon after my return.
For some basic updates from what's on the website:
Note that there have not been any bodies since 2008 (the year the D90 was introduced) that will need my Type B conversion. My Type A will be all you need for any recent Nikon higher-end DSLRs.
Bodies like those in the D3000 and D5000 series can use pre-Ai lenses without conversion.
Mirrorless bodies can use pre-Ai lenses (with an adapter) without the need for, or benefit from, my conversion.
I have a For Sale list of mostly Nikon gear available. Click here for a copy. The prices listed are essentially placeholders. I am open to offers based on your research of current prices.
Thanks to all my past and upcoming customers! I hope to get my aged website (and maybe prices) updated eventually.

* Ai stands for Automatic Indexing (not Artificial Intelligence). :-) Pre-Ai lenses date from 1977 and before. The primary identifying characteristic is an aperture ring with only a single set of f/stop numbers. Ai, Series E, and Ai-S lenses have two sets.
