CBE 160 - Engineering Biology

Course Overview

First-principle introduction to the modern biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology with an engineering language. The goal is to demonstrate that the vastly diverse biological phenomena can be explained by a set of fundamental principles in chemistry, thermodynamics, and kinetics.

Course Tips

Requires a lot of memorization. However, try to connect molecular biology, thermodynamics, and kinetics to the engineering concepts.

Study Strategies

Visualize biological processes instead of only writing definitions. For biological mechanisms, explain them out loud as if you were teaching someone else.
