# Privacy Policy for AI Chat Exporter

This Privacy Policy describes how **Neo Cortex** ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use the **AI Chat Exporter** browser extension (the "Extension").
## 1. Introduction
AI Chat Exporter is designed to help you archive your AI conversations locally and to your preferred cloud storage. We prioritize your privacy and follow a "privacy-by-design" approach, processing as much data as possible directly on your device.
## 2. Information We Collect
### A. Personal Information
We do not require you to create an account. However, to manage features and subscriptions, we collect limited data:
* **Client ID:** We generate a unique, anonymous Client ID (UUID) stored locally to identify your installation for quota management.
* **Email Address:** If you subscribe to a Premium plan via Stripe, we collect your email address for billing, license management, and support.
### B. Chat Data
* **Locally Processed:** Standard exports (Markdown, Text, JSON) and local image renders are processed entirely inside your browser. Your chat content never leaves your device for these formats.
* **Server-Side PDF Generation:** If you use the high-quality PDF export, the chat HTML is temporarily sent to our secure backend. This data is processed in-memory (RAM) to generate the PDF and is **never saved, logged, or stored** on our servers. It is deleted immediately after the PDF is returned to you.
### C. Export Metadata & History
To provide the **Export History** feature in the options page, we store the following metadata for each export on our secure servers:
* **Title and Filename:** The name you gave to the export.
* **Source URL:** The web address where the export originated (e.g., chatgpt.com).
* **Format & Platform:** The file type (PDF, MD, etc.) and the AI platform used (Claude, Gemini, etc.).
* **Timestamp:** When the export occurred.
**Note:** This metadata does *not* include the actual content of your conversations.
## 3. Third-Party Integrations
If you choose to use the "Cloud Sync" feature, you will connect the Extension to third-party services. We use the following permissions:
### A. Google Drive
* **Scope:** `drive.file`
* **Usage:** We only access folders and files created by this Extension. We do not have access to your other Google Drive files.
### B. Dropbox
* **Usage:** We use OAuth2 to create and upload files to a designated "AI Chat Exporter" folder in your Dropbox.
### C. Notion
* **Usage:** We use your Notion integration token to append chat data to pages or databases you explicitly grant access to.
### D. Stripe
* **Usage:** Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.
## 4. Data Retention & Deletion
* **Local Data:** Your settings and local cache remain on your device until you uninstall the Extension.
* **Metadata History:** You can view and delete your export history at any time via the Extension's Options page.
* **Account Deletion:** You can request the permanent deletion of your Client ID and all associated metadata by contacting us.
## 5. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Metadata is stored in a secure database with restricted access.
## 6. Your Rights
Under various privacy laws (like GDPR or CCPA), you have the right to access, rectify, or delete the information we have associated with your Client ID.
## 7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date or through an in-app notification.
