Privacy Policy — Background Eraser: Offline
Effective 5 September 2026
MD Developer Studio ("we", "us") develops and maintains the Android
application Background Eraser: Offline (package com.mdonda.background_eraser).
This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
THE SHORT VERSION
Your photos are processed entirely on your phone. We do not upload them, we
cannot see them, and we have no servers to store them on. There is no account
and no sign-in. The only data that leaves your device is what Google's
advertising and Google Play services collect, described below.
YOUR PHOTOS
The background removal runs on an AI model bundled inside the app itself. When
you open a photo, everything — the cutout, your brush edits, the background you
choose, the final export — happens in your phone's memory and storage.
We do not collect, transmit, upload, view or store your photos or the images
you create with the app. No image is ever sent to us or to any third party by
the app.
If you tap Share, your phone's own share sheet opens and you choose where the
image goes. That transfer is made by you, through the app you pick, and is
governed by that app's privacy policy.
WHAT THE APP STORES ON YOUR DEVICE
The app keeps the following in its own private storage on your phone:
• Cutouts you save, so they appear in the Saved tab and can be reopened
• A small thumbnail of each saved cutout
• Your settings: language, light or dark theme, export format and quality,
magnifier and brush preferences
None of this is transmitted anywhere. You can delete individual cutouts, or
clear all of them, from inside the app (Saved tab, or Settings → Storage).
Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
When you save a cutout to your gallery, a copy is written to your device's
public photo library, where it is yours to manage like any other photo.
ADVERTISING
The app is free and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdMob to show
banner, interstitial and native ads.
To serve ads, Google's advertising SDK collects information from your device.
This typically includes your advertising ID, IP address, device and operating
system details, general location inferred from your IP address, and how you
interact with the ads shown. This collection is performed by Google, not by us,
and we do not receive your photos or any content you create in the app.
Google's practices are described at:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
You can limit ad personalisation at any time in your device settings, under
Settings → Google → Ads, where you can also reset or delete your advertising ID.
GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES
The app uses two Google Play features:
• In-app updates — the app asks Google Play whether a newer version exists
and offers to install it.
• In-app review — after your first successful save, the app may ask Google
Play to show its rating prompt. Any review you write is submitted to and
handled by Google Play, not by us. We never see who left which review.
These features communicate with Google Play, not with us.
PERMISSIONS AND WHY
• Internet and network state — required so the advertising SDK can fetch
ads and so Google Play can check for updates. The photo editing itself
needs no connection and works fully offline.
• Advertising ID — used by AdMob as described above.
• Camera — requested only at the moment you tap "Take a photo", and used
only to capture that photo. The app never opens the camera on its own.
• Photos — the app uses your phone's system photo picker, so on Android 13
and later it needs no access to your photo library at all: you choose one
photo and only that photo is handed to the app. On Android 9 and earlier,
storage permission is used solely to save a finished image to your gallery.
DATA WE COLLECT
None. We operate no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no crash reporting.
We receive no personal information from the app. If you email us, we will of
course have whatever you choose to write to us.
CHILDREN
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided
information through the advertising described above, contact us and we will
help you address it with Google.
YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export
or erase on your behalf. In practice your controls are:
• Delete your saved cutouts inside the app, or uninstall it
• Reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings
• Limit ad personalisation in your device settings
• Manage or delete data Google holds at https://myaccount.google.com
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR
or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Requests concerning
advertising data should be directed to Google, as they are the party that
collects it; we are happy to help you route a request.
SECURITY
Because your images never leave your device, they are protected by your
device's own security — your screen lock and Android's app sandboxing, which
prevents other apps from reading this app's private storage.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes we will update this page and revise the effective date
above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on
Google Play.
