2nd Edition Workshop
AI Usage and Regulation
June 10 and 11, 2026
HEC Lausanne, Room 109, Extranef
HEC Lausanne, Room 109, Extranef
Jointly organized by:
This two-day workshop, co-organized by UPEC and UNIL, explores how artificial intelligence is developed, applied and governed across research, education and public institutions.
This is a multidisciplinary event bringing together professors from several academic institutions (UNIL, UPEC, EPFL, HEG Genève, University of Rennes, CHUV, UNIGE, University of Grenoble, UNINE, University of Amsterdam), as well as practitioners from companies (Exoscale and Deeplink) and public institutions involved in regulating and designing best practices in the AI development (ILAAS, French MESR and COMCOM).
This year’s edition focuses on sustainability, ethics and technological sovereignty. The programme will first address concrete uses of AI, including tools for teaching and research, AI-assisted methods, and large-scale infrastructures. It will then broaden the discussion to key societal and regulatory challenges, including explainability, bias, trust, environmental impact, data governance, legal frameworks and the future of AI regulation in Europe and Switzerland.
The workshop aims to create a space for genuine interdisciplinary dialogue to question when, how and under what conditions AI should be used. By bringing together perspectives from computer science, law, economics, management, ethics, and public policy, it seeks to identify the main points of attention that should guide responsible AI development and deployment.
Participation is subject to registration by June 3rd with a contribution of CHF 15.- per attended lunch only. If this cost represents a barrier to participation, please contact us.
Venue to the workshop: HEC Lausanne, Room 109, Extranef, 1015 Chavannes-près-Renens.
