Dr. Haiming Liu is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Centre for Machine Intelligence (CMI) at the University of Southampton. She specializes in designing and developing interactive multimodal information-seeking, access, and retrieval technologies. Her research has been applied across multidisciplinary domains, including AI in Education. Dr. Liu is actively engaged in knowledge exchange and innovation projects aimed at enhancing industrial productivity and addressing business challenges. She plays a key role in developing AI in Education standards, working to bridge the gap among key stakeholders.
Dr Ana Elena Schalk is an Academic Developer. Digital Learning Lead. Trinity College Dublin. She has been a lecturer, researcher, academic developer, and academic manager for over 30 years. She worked at TU Dublin’s Learning, Teaching and Assessment Team, where she led several strategic learning initiatives and taught on the MSc Education and Postgraduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching. Before joining TU Dublin, she led a number of institutional, national, and international digital education initiatives in Latin America and Spain, collaborating with different Universities, and as a Consultant at Ministries of Education, UNESCO, and the Iberoamerican States Organisation (OEI).
At Trinity, she leads the Digital Learning and GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment plan at the Centre for Academic Practice. This plan includes resources to support academic staff, collaboration with other institutional departments and units, and research development. She also teaches as part of the Special Purpose Certificate and other professional development initiatives.
She led the creation and implementation of the open course “GenAI in T&L: How to do it right?” (badge), which was funded by the National Forum to develop AI Literacy skills for academic staff in higher education. This initiative was in conjunction with the University of Limerick and UCD.
She co-led the open-access publication (2025) in collaboration with seven Irish universities: Using GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Irish Universities.
She is a member of the Mexican Embassy's Educational Committee in Ireland and the co-chair of the Educational Developers Irish Network.
Dr Pauline Rooney is Head of Academic Practice: Teaching & Learning where she leads a team of academic developers, education support officers, student interns and teaching fellows. She works closely with College Officers and academic staff, providing leadership and expertise in further enhancing teaching and learning practices across the disciplines at Trinity. She also advises and contributes to College’s wider objectives in respect of its education provision and strategic goals.
With over 20 years’ experience in education development, academic support, teaching and research, Pauline has particular expertise in digital learning, teaching and assessment and digital scholarship. She has led a number of national and institutional teaching and learning projects including the National Forum-funded Digital by Design initiative and DALTAI project. She has sat on a number of national steering committees and advisory groups including the IUA’s EDTL Steering Committee and the National Forum Learning Analytics Advisory Groups.
She is an experienced educator, a lecturer and supervisor at postgraduate level, and she is a Fellow of the UK Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA). Her research interests focus on how digital technologies impact on learning, teaching and scholarship in higher education..
Dr Yunjia Li is an expert and active practitioner on AI in Education technologies, who focus on machine learning and multimedia data analytics. With 15 years of experience in full-stack web development, Yunjia has authored over 30 research papers and won more than 20 EU and InnovateUK research grants in the fields of computer science and educational technology. In 2016, Dr. Li was honored as an Enterprise Fellow by the Royal Academy of Engineering, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey in technology. He is currently the managing director of several AI-driven companies in the EdTech and SportsTech industries.
Purva Rajkotia is the Director of Global Business Strategy & Intelligence (GBSI) and the Connectivity and Telecom Practice Lead at the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA). Prior to IEEE, Purva held leadership positions with Qualcomm, Samsung, and Disney in various capacities. Purva also held leadership positions in various standards organizations such as IEEE, ITU, 3GPP, 3GPP2, CENELEC, etc. He has authored more than 100 patents granted by the USPTO (US Patent Office) and other worldwide patent organizations. He is one of the co-authors of the chapter on Powerline Communications in the book “MIMO Power Line Communications Narrow and Broadband Standards, EMC, and Advanced Processing” by CRC Press. He obtained his MSEE degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his MBA from CSU.
