AI for Good was borne out of exploring the capabilities of public AI frameworks such a OpenCV, PyTorch and TensorFlow and using trained models such as OpenAI Whisper. I built a number Python experiments targeted for the Mac and Raspberry Pi platforms to explore voice and vision processing capabilities. Although I got them to work, I was dissatisfied by the fidelity of the results and the amount of coding effort needed to development and refine them. I realised that it was difficult to tune these apps for the hardware capabilities for a general Python execution environment
I then turned to my old smart phone (an iPhone 8 at the time when the iPhone 15 was available) to understand its potential capabilities for similar applications. I reasoned that the APIs, models and hardware had been tuned to potentially deliver superior audio and image processing capabilities
I am developing a handful of apps that help explore and demonstrate the application of AI and ML models
