Faiyaz Doctor is an academic, innovator and applied technology specialist with over 20 years of experience in the development and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in research and commercial areas. Dr Doctor is currently a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) with the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex, U. K where he is head of the Intelligent Connected Societies Group and member of the Centre for Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Embedded Systems and Environments Group. He is also Chief Technology Officer at Interactive Coventry Ltd and a member of the Creative Science Foundation. Over the course of his career Faiyaz has worked in both industrial and academia developing and applying nature inspired Computational Intelligence (CI) approaches for human centred systems related to various real-world domains such as smart environments, elderly care, energy optimization, industrial automation, information analysis, decision-making simulation, control systems and affective computing. His research interests are focused on the design and application of AI techniques such as fuzzy systems for modelling data uncertainties to provide explainable and adaptive reasoning solutions in combination with other CI based learning and optimization methods for hybrid systems and intelligent agents. Dr Doctor has successfully supervised and co-supervised a number of doctoral students to completion and has led and co-led several projects funded through Innovate UK, Harvard University, Newton Fund and the Royal Academy of Engineers. He is currently co-leading and supervising several KTP projects with leading UK businesses. Faiyaz has published extensively with over 90 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences, workshops, books and has two patent inventions. He is associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and has guest edited several journal special issues most notably in the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments and the IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence and MDPI Remote Sensing. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, senior member of the IEEE.

Dr Rahat Iqbal is a Senior Academic, Director, Inventor and Consultant with 20 years’ experience in industrial and academic roles. His main research interests lie in Digital Innovation, Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Connected and Autonomous Vehicle, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Prior to joining the University of Dubai, he was Leading the Connected Mobility Research Group in the Institute of Future Transport and Cities (IFTC) and Director at Interactive Coventry Ltd. Dr Iqbal has supervised to completion 20 PhD students and examined 22 doctorate theses. He has published more than 150 papers in international journals, conferences and books. He has edited several special issues of international journals and workshop proceedings. His work has resulted in high profile innovation awards, prestigious grants and 4 technology patents of high industrial uptake. Dr Iqbal has led projects funded through the Newton Fund, Conacyt, Innovate UK, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), European Regional Development Fund (DRDF) and Harvard University in collaboration with industry, governmental organisations and academic partners. Dr Iqbal has secured over £ 5.2M for research and commercial projects from EPSRC, Innovate UK, Technology Strategy Board, EU Regional Development Funds and commercial enterprises.

Dr. Charalampos Karyotis works as a senior researcher at IRIS Automation Ltd. with over a decade of industrial experience. Specializing in AI technologies, Dr. Karyotis has successfully led the commercialization of innovative products, securing over 1 million in public funding. His role encompasses the development and implementation of intelligent solutions for real-world challenges. Holding a PhD in Affective Computing from Coventry University and an MSc in signal processing for the University of Athens, he has made significant contributions to the field, authoring over 15 scientific articles. His research interests extend to machine learning, smart cities, quantum computing and IoT with a focus on rapid prototype development. His academic journey includes positions as a lecturer and teaching assistant at Metropolitan College Greece and the National University of Athens.
