PRIVACY POLICY — AI CHAT: AI CHATBOT ASSISTANT

This Privacy Policy explains what data the AI Chat mobile app ("AI Chat", "we", "us", "our") collects on iOS and Android, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. By using the app you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you provide:
- Account information (optional). Sign-in with Apple or Google is optional. If you sign in we receive your name, email address, profile photo (if any), and a unique user ID.
- Your content. The messages and prompts you type, the photos and documents you upload for analysis, and the AI responses and images generated in your sessions.
- Support messages you send to us.
Information collected automatically:
- Device and technical data: device model, manufacturer, operating system version, app version, language and region.
- IP address (used to infer country/region only — we do not collect precise GPS location).
- Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Google Advertising ID on Android).
- Usage and diagnostics: features used, in-app actions, session activity, crash logs and performance data.
Payments and subscriptions:
- Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive or store your full payment card details — we only receive your subscription status.
HOW YOUR CONTENT IS PROCESSED BY AI MODEL PROVIDERS
To generate responses, AI Chat sends your messages and any uploaded images or files to third-party AI model providers, who process them to return a result:
- OpenAI (GPT models) — https://openai.com/privacy
- Anthropic (Claude models) — https://www.anthropic.com/privacy
- Google (Gemini models) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- xAI (Grok models) — https://x.ai/privacy
- Other model providers (for example Kimi and Nano Banana), under their own terms.
We do not send your account credentials, payment details, or advertising identifier to these providers. AI Chat is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, or xAI.
ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS
- We may show ads through Google AdMob and its mediation partners (free tier). AdMob may use your advertising identifier to serve and measure ads.
- We use Firebase (Google) for analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring.
HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
We use your data to: provide the app's features (chat, image generation, translation, study help, scanning and more); route your prompts to the appropriate AI model; sync your chat history across your devices; process and manage subscriptions; show ads to free-tier users; analyse and improve the app; prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
DATA SHARING
We do NOT sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- the AI model providers listed above, to generate your responses;
- our service providers — Supabase (cloud database/hosting), Firebase (analytics/crash), Google AdMob (ads), and Apple/Google for sign-in and billing;
- authorities where required by law, court order, or valid legal request;
- a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with notice).
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
- Your chat history is retained until you delete it or delete your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings > Account > Delete Account. You can also request deletion by emailing jakie.techno@gmail.com. On deletion, your account and synced chat history are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
- You can clear your chat history in the app at any time, with or without an account.
- Aggregated analytics and crash data are retained for limited periods per our providers' policies.
YOUR RIGHTS — EUROPE (GDPR)
If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK you have the right to access, correct, delete, export (port), restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (to provide the app), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and improvement), and your consent (for personalised ads and optional analytics). Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. To exercise a right, email jakie.techno@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
YOUR RIGHTS — CALIFORNIA (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct their personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do NOT sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, email, device ID, IP address, advertising ID), commercial information (subscription status), internet/network activity (app usage), coarse geolocation (country/region inferred from IP), and user content (chat messages, uploaded images and documents). To make a request, email jakie.techno@gmail.com with "CCPA Request" in the subject line.
SECURITY
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS. Our cloud database (Supabase) is access-controlled. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
CHILDREN
AI Chat is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email jakie.techno@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND SDKs
The app relies on third-party services that have their own privacy policies, including the AI model providers above, Supabase, Firebase (Google), Google AdMob, and Apple and Google sign-in and billing. Their policies govern their own processing of data.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and will notify you of material changes within the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
