Dr. Styliani Kleanthous, coordinator of the AI4Everyone Erasmus+ Project, gave last week (5th March 2026), an invited lecture to undergraduate students in the Computer Science program at the University of Cyprus. She discussed key topics related to Ethics, Trust, and Trustworthiness in AI systems, concepts essential to the responsible design and deployment of modern AI technologies. She also shared with the students some ideas from our ongoing projects, including AI4Everyone Erasmus+. It was a great opportunity to engage with thoughtful questions and perspectives from the students.
Dr Styliani Kleanthous represented the Open University of Cyprus at the conference organized by the Cyprus Computer Society - CCS and CEPIS, in collaboration with 10 universities in Cyprus and under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, "Educational and Career Choices in STEM Sciences", on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Nicosia. In her opening statement, she referred to the role of education in understanding the possibilities and limitations of Artificial Intelligence, but also to the importance of women's participation in the design and development of AI technologies. Diversity in the teams that create these technologies is not just a matter of equality, it is a prerequisite for more reliable and equitable systems. The conference was attended by educators of public and private schools in Cyprus.
Dr Styliani Kleanthous, Assistant Professor at the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and Co-director of CyCAT, participated in the 2nd CEPIS International Conference on Digital Skills and IT Professionalism (ICODSIP), held from 6-7 November 2025, at Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Spain. During the conference, Dr Kleanthous participated in the project presentation track, where she presented the AI4Everyone Erasmus+ Project.
On Tuesday (11/11/2025) Dr. Styliani Kleanthous took part in a very interesting discussion and exchanged ideas in a panel about how we can build a more informed and critically thinking society in the digital age.
We need education, digital literacy, and critical thinking so that citizens can consciously trust the information they consume every day. The most successful examples show that collaboration between humans and AI can empower both sides, making use of the best of human judgment and machine analysis. If we learn from these examples, we can design social platforms that foster critical thinking rather than manipulate it. The active participation of citizens in shaping our digital future is crucial for building a democratic, fair, and inclusive society.
As part of the kick-off, the consortium hosted an online Inauguration Event on September 19 (10:00–11:30 EET), which attracted over 60 participants from academia, education, and the wider public. The event introduced the project’s objectives and partners, while also opening a dialogue on critical topics such as EU regulatory initiatives on AI, the role of education in shaping trust and awareness, and the importance of fostering AI literacy for all citizens.
The AI4Everyone project will develop open educational resources, MOOCs, and practical AI learning tools, aiming to bridge the digital skills gap and ensure that citizens, students, and professionals are better equipped to understand and responsibly use AI in their daily lives.

The AI4Everyone Erasmus+ Project (2025-1-CY01-KA220-HED-000364525) officially launched with its kick-off meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 18–19 September 2025. Coordinated by Dr. Styliani Kleanthous, Assistant Professor in Human-AI Interaction and co-director of the Cyprus Center for Trustworthy AI (CyCAT), Open University of Cyprus, the project brings together leading European institutions: the University of Trento (Italy), University of Koblenz (Germany), Aalborg University (Denmark), and the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (Poland).
The two-day meeting marked the beginning of a two-year collaboration aimed at advancing AI education and digital literacy across Europe. Partners discussed project goals, upcoming activities, and strategies for empowering diverse audiences with accessible and responsible AI learning opportunities.
This project is funded by the EU's Erasmus+ Programme under agreement 2025-1-CY01-KA220-HED-000364525 (AI4Everyone)
