OUR NEW SCHOOL

Construction of Milldale Primary School

Kia ora tātou,

We are excited to announce construction of Milldale Primary School gets underway on Friday 11 March, and we expect our new buildings to open around September or October next year.

To allow us to start operating before the new school is ready, temporary classrooms will be installed on site and these will be ready for use from Term 1, 2023. Enrolments will open in term 3 this year.

Our new school will initially cater for up to 415 students/ākonga, and will consist of:

  • an administration/reception area

  • 18 teaching spaces across a two-storey classroom block

  • Two teaching spaces for an integrated satellite unit for Wairau Valley Special School

  • a library

  • a multipurpose space – hall / gym / theatre

  • sports / playing fields

  • a student support centre for the Northern Health School

  • a carpark.

How will this impact our neighbouring communities?

There will be a lot happening on site when construction begins.

The main contractor, Form Building and Developments, has a plan in place to keep everyone safe during this project, especially around vehicle movements during construction. The contractors will have their own compound. Their buildings and vehicles will be on this site.

While the contractor will do their best to keep noise and vibration to a minimum, there will be some unavoidable disruption at times.

We appreciate that this process may be inconvenient at times, but we’ll work with you to reduce the impact as much as possible.

We look forward to celebrating the completion of our new school at the end of the project.
