Research underpins practice, and evidence-based medicine is the bedrock of clinical practice. AHPs are integral to leading, implementing and engaging with research across health and social care to improve the lives of the individuals they work with. Practice learning in research is important to create AHP's who are confident and capable researchers of the future workforce.
Here is a webinar about research placements held by @AHPpracticeCoP - an AHP Practice Learning Community of Practice.
Research Placements for AHP Students
This webinar was developed and led by SHU students on a leadership placement. The webinar depicts what research placements should look like for both students and educators and has helpful tips.
Research placement tips for students:
Opportunity: This placement should be considered as a great opportunity to diversify your portfolio
Bigger picture: You need to look at the bigger picture while being on placement, try to develop your understanding of how research projects are developed, planned, and executed.
Clinical implication: You should have regular discussions with your supervisor to understand the implications of your learning onto your clinical practice. Think for the prospective of a researcher rather than as an end user of research.
