Capacity building

Short Course on Program Evaluation, Nepal 2019

Short Course on Program Evaluation, Ethiopia 2018

In my capacity as the Deputy Director of the G²LM|LIC program, I co-organized several capacity building activities across developing countries. The goal of these activities is to improve the research skills of young researchers in developing countries and to connect them with top-level policymakers to build bridges between research and policy. Since the beginning of the programme, we have organized several versions of these acivities in Delhi (2012), Nairobi (2013), Dhaka (2015), Lusaka (2016), Abidjan (2017), Addis Ababa (2018), and Kathmandu (2019).

Covid19 has forced us to go online, but we managed to benefit from the situation to achieve more outreach. In December 2020, we organized an online event on Research Skills for Sub-Saharan Africa, with more than 250 researchers attending the online course. We also enhanced the online course with a special mentorship program in which 40 researchers based in Africa were matched with mentors who are experienced researchers in their own field.
