Throughout my career, I have been deeply involved in projects and research focused on digital rights, content moderation, and the protection of online spaces, especially in the context of Palestine.
Monitoring and Documentation at 7amleh: As the Monitoring and Documentation Manager at 7amleh - The Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media, I have been responsible for developing tools and methodologies that enhance the tracking and documentation of digital rights violations & threats. One of my key achievements was the creation of a digital platform, 7or.7amleh.org, designed to monitor and collect evidence on digital rights violations. This tool has been instrumental in documenting instances of digital censorship, online harassment, and violent content, providing a comprehensive overview of the digital landscape in Palestine.
AI-Powered Language Model for Content Moderation: I led an initiative to develop an AI language model (https://7or.7amleh.org/violence-indicator) capable of detecting violent content and hate speech in both Arabic and Hebrew. This project was crucial in addressing the challenges posed by multilingual content moderation, particularly in a region as linguistically diverse as Palestine. The AI model significantly improved the accuracy and efficiency of identifying harmful content, allowing for more effective moderation and reporting to social media platforms.
Research and Publications: I have authored and co-authored several research papers and guidelines on hate speech, social media platform policies, and the digital landscape in Palestine. These publications have contributed to the global understanding of how digital rights are being infringed upon in conflict zones and have provided actionable recommendations for improving digital rights protection.

Global Engagement and Advocacy: My work has not been confined to local or regional contexts; I have actively participated in international events, conferences, and workshops where I have spoken about content moderation, combating violent content online, collecting evidence and digital rights violations. These engagements have allowed me to share insights from my work and collaborate with global experts to enhance the protection of digital rights.
Training and Capacity Building: A significant part of my role involves conducting training sessions on collecting online evidence and documenting digital rights violations, detecting violent content, online GBV, platforms' policies and digital security. These sessions are designed to empower activists, journalists, and civil society organizations with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively document and advocate against digital rights abuses.
Digital Campaigning: I have also been involved in digital campaigns aimed at raising awareness about digital threats and educating the public on how to navigate them safely. These campaigns have reached thousands of people, promoting safe online practices and advocating for stronger protections against digital rights violations. Ongoing Advocacy with Social Media Platforms: I engage in daily efforts with social media platforms, working to protect users by escalating cases of digital rights violations and advocating for policy changes that better reflect the realities faced by users in conflict zones. Managing a database of violations, I ensure that these cases are thoroughly documented and brought to the attention of the platforms, in order to provide protection for users case-by case and also contributing to broader advocacy efforts.
