I was born and brought up in Rahim yar khan, the land of ever-green Sofi poet Kh Ghulam Fareed. My early education was completed in Rahim yar khan. In 2009 I got admission to the Swedish College of Engineering & Technology Rahim yar khan, an affiliated institution of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and UET Lahore. In 2013, I completed my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Power System Engineering. From 2013 to 2014, I served in my college in two different capacities. In 2014 I was awarded a Scholarship from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China, to pursue a master’s degree.
In 2017, I completed my MSc degree in Electrical Engineering. During my graduate studies at SJTU, my coursework focused on Control Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, and Power Systems. Besides, I spent almost 2.5 years in Electrical Machine Control (EMC) research group as a research assistant, where I was involved in modeling and control algorithms for dual-three phase (DTP) PMSMs. These are specialized motors used for high power density applications. A novel rotor position estimation algorithm based on the transient response of line current was developed and verified using Matlab/Simulink.
In 2017, I was again awarded a scholarship from SJTU to work towards my Ph.D. degree. In my Ph.D., my research focuses on developing the hybrid circuit breakers with fault current limiting capabilities, used with varied ratings of VSC-HVDC transmission lines projects. I was expected to complete my Ph.D. degree in Fall 2021, due to COVID-19, my research work is badly affected. However, I have written seven papers during my Ph.D. research work duration, and some papers are in the pipeline for publication. My thesis writeup is in progress, and my Ph.D. defense is expected in Spring 2022.
It is important to highlight that Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of the leading research universities in China and abroad. According to the QS ranking system, SJTU is currently among the top 50 universities in the world. According to THE ranking system, SJTU is among the top 100 universities globally.
I am honored to be a keynote speaker at some national conferences. Recently, I have delivered some seminars in some Pakistani universities. Moreover, three papers have been presented at international conferences. The IET-RPG conference is a prestigious event held annually, and I attended that session in Beijing in 2015. The impact factor of my papers, which I have written as a principal author, are as follows; 3.00, 4.63, 2.86, 6.87, and 2.39. All these papers are indexed in SCI and approved by HEC.
