About the Guild
WHO ARE WE?
We’re a friendly group who often learn from and teach each other spinning, weaving and allied craft skills. A growing number of men have become members, though most are women. Members volunteer to spin, weave or felt at community events on invitation.
LIBRARY
The Adelaide Hills Spinners and Weavers Guild library is open at each meeting, during part of the morning. The Library offers a range of current magazines and books on spinning, weaving, knitting, crochet, felting and basket-weaving, along with other crafts. All items borrowed are recorded. There is no time limit (except for new books/magazines which are limited to two weeks), however, all borrowings are reviewed after one month. Our library is online at https://www.librarything.com/catalog/AHHSWG
WEAVERS’ MEETINGS
On the 4th Thursday of each month, a small group meet at a member’s home to show and discuss their own weaving or other woven items. New members are welcome. Speak to a committee member for more information.
DYES, FIBRE and FLEECE SALES
A range of fibre, as well as Landscape dyes are available for sale at Guild meetings (discounted for members).

HISTORY
The Guild was formed in September 1972, after a meeting organised by Janet Eckherdt, our first President. The guild met each month in the Mylor Hall for about a year, then moved to Burnbank, an old cottage at Mount Barker Springs. Next a move to a room in what was once the Morning Star Hotel at Wistow, then to the old Grandstand at Mount Barker Oval, then coming to Littlehampton in 1989.
TRADITIONS
Apart from regular meetings (see front cover), we have four other
traditional events.
Our OPEN DAY is held on the 4th Saturday in May, with displays, demonstrations, sales and refreshments.
A 5-day RETREAT is available to a limited number of guild members to craft around August—October each year
