Growing up stuck between the line of tradition and the contemporary, my work is a take on my experience with my own Mexican traditions alongside the current culture in society that we live in now and that was constantly evolving as I grew up. Creating vessels with exposed clay bodies, using deep reds and earthy blacks and browns that stained my hands for days on end; using techniques that my own grandmother would have used to build my pieces. I take society's views of contemporary, I cross the line and I run away with it and make it my own. Why must we stick to these black and white views of these two different concepts when we can try and mix them together. This, this is what I live for.
