Algebraic Groups and Their Representations
An LMS Research School
24 - 28 July 2023, University of Birmingham, UK
A working knowledge of algebraic groups and their representation theory is essential for modern-day researchers in algebra and geometry. In this 5-day research school, funded by the London Mathematical Society, participants will be able to develop a deep understanding of this core area of mathematics. Through 3 lecture series of 5 lectures each, delivered by internationally-renowned mathematicians, participants will learn about the structure, geometry, and representation theory of algebraic groups.
The lecture series will be*:
Reductive groups, highest weight categories and categorification (Jonathan Brundan, University of Oregon)
Geometry arising from algebraic groups (Martina Lanini, Università di Roma "Tor Vergata")
Geometric representation theory of reductive algebraic groups over algebraically closed fields of positive characteristic (Simon Riche, Université Clermont Auvergne)
*Titles are subject to change.
Applications for the research school are now closed.
