Our research focuses on how horticultural crops interact with economically important pathogens. A specific area of our investigation revolves around Agrobacterium, where we delve into the molecular functions of T-DNA encoded ORFs of rhizogenic agrobacteria. Our aim is to uncover the mechanisms by which these proteins manipulate host cellular processes and modulate plant defense responses, ultimately resulting in the formation of hairy roots.

My work allows supplying the fundamental basis for describing molecular function at the atomic level of proteins using structural analysis by crystallography. I have been studying opines transport systems in agrobacteria for many years. These transport systems are involved in host-pathogen relationships and serve as nutrient transports as well as virulence molecules uptake.
