Summary. Objectives
The AGRA series of summer schools (Santiago de Chile, 2012; Cusco, 2015; Córdoba, 2018; online, 2021/Cabo Frio, 2022) has as its goal to foster the development of number theory in Latin America: it provides a formative experience for young researchers, and it also helps bring together more senior or mid-career mathematicians working in the field.
Number theory is a field that welcomes and prospers on ideas and techniques from many branches of mathematics, and nourishes them in turn. Topics in previous AGRA schools have included primality and divisibility, additive combinatorics, diophantine geometry, arithmetic groups, expander graphs, modular forms, L-functions, algebraic groups, ergodic theory, harmonic analysis in number theory, higher-order Fourier analysis, asymptotic group theory, Galois representations, homology and cohomology in group theory, lattice surfaces and the geometry of moduli spaces, with subjects often being developed across several years.
While graduate students and young researchers will be the main intended audience of the school, all interested researchers and students are welcome to participate. Our goal is to fully fund all participants from Latin America, after a merit-based selection.
Participants from elsewhere (including developed countries) are encouraged to find funding for travel from their own institutions; we will attempt to cover their local costs.
The language of the school will be Spanish.
People of all genders are encouraged to apply. All will be treated equally.
A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. There is no registration fee.
