Registered in Wisconsin.
My name is Corey, I have lived in the Ashland county area for most of my life. Born and raised around our beautiful great lake, Lake Superior. Lived elsewhere from time to time but this has always been my home. I've hunted and fished the area my whole life. I'm a lover of the outdoors and fresh air. I come from a home of 2 strong willed hardworking people that provided me with some of the work knowledge I utilize to this day. I believe in hard work, honesty, assertiveness, the ability to be humble, and the ability to grow, and the ability to gain, keep, and grow trust as a man and a future asset to any potential customers. I have recently opened a lawn care and residential cleaning business located in the Ashland area. I want to tell you about what I want to do for you and I want you to tell me what you want.
I want to gain your trust, respect, admiration of the ability to be versatile through providing a service of lawn care/repair, removal of waste, property upkeep, and housekeeping/residential cleaning for prospective clients personal space/property/living area etc. I want to be cheap, affordable, and high quality. And I want you to want to call me back.
I want to take unusable space, overgrown space, unmaintained space, or general upkeep to a new level and bring them back to life through services provided to help our surroundings look better. In turn that will give pride in our community, it will give me personally a purpose and the drive as an artist to make the world beautiful, which also gives me self pride.
There is a lot homes that have this one space inside or out, this one ***simple fix/repair***, or want help with maintaining space they just cant call and get soon to immediate help/service the way they specify/need. Be it a corner of the yard that would take extra work to bring back to life or usability, a garage that needs organization, a basement that's flooded or also needs organization, or ***simple odd job guy repairs***. (***) see below
Here is an outlook of most services provided at time of opening and establishment as a business in our community. I will always take into account the current situations of our environment, weather, time frames of need with respect to fcfs, and scheduling. Which also will go for the future weather, time, scheduling etc.
-Residential cleaning services offered will be at this time:
-cleaning and removal of outside lawn waste, grass, weeds, tree limbs, garbage or other foreign debris that may have accumulated over time.
-areas of focus would be garage space, attics, front room/living room, basement, dining room, kitchens and bathrooms-my focus in theses space will consist of waste removal, cleaning and sanitation, and possible help rearranging or organizing these hard to combat spaces
-dusting, sweeping, mopping, wiping/cleaning/sanitation of multiple surfaces(counter tops, appliances, household fixtures, sinks to tubs, door handles to light switches, and most inbetweens), garbage collection/removal, sanitation, and possible air freshening
-Front room/living room vacuuming, dusting, wiping of surfaces, rearranging of furniture/living room items. **ISSUE SERVICE SEE BELOW**
-”Kitchen cleaning” as a single service will consist of sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping of surfaces, sanitization and single load dishes that are realistic to average ability to maintain weekly household duties. **ISSUE SERVICE SEE BELOW**
-Cabinet Service- removing all kitchen cabinet items, wiping, scrubbing, sanitizing, dishes washed, and shelves reorganized to specific wants or to the best of my ability to properly replace items back to the original placement prior to cabinet service. Cabinet service will have a $60.00 flat rate, If a kitchen cleaning is requested with a cabinet service, I will first clean the outside kitchen portion at a $20.00 an hour rate, with the first hour paid regardless of time spent. If I'm cleaning up the kitchen to do a Cabinet Service, it's more than likely about an hour, hour and a half to get a decent deep clean or general clean. If i am there for 45 mins yes at $20.00 an hour $15.00 is what i should have charged. Going back to $30.00 for the first hour, I just cleaned your kitchen so I can do the second half of my service, if that's what you had wanted. Well, I haven't paid for gas or supplies yet if I don't implement some sort of first hour rate. I know the work to take everything out of kitchen cabinets, and clean, and put everything back. The reason a lot of cupboards haven't seen this clean is because it is actually a time and space consuming task. I got time, cleanliness, and great space management. This service will either be the first service of the day or last. Why, first I want to do the inside work before the outside work, as to not be a dirty lawn care guy trying to be a cleaning guy, after sweaty work. Second it's just easier to clean the space you need in the kitchen to clear and make clean space for what is coming out of the cabinets. I am very efficient at time management and quality speed cleaning. Speed will not lack quality, experience is why I can move faster.
-”Bathroom cleaning” as a single service will consist of sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping of surfaces, and sanitization.. **ISSUE SERVICE SEE BELOW**
-All main traffic areas will be up for all said services, sweeping, mopping, dusting etc.
-”Landscaping” wise, just to be specific at this time of offered services:
-lawn mowing
-weedeating
-pavement/cement edging
-slight tree care
-yard organization
-yard/lawn aeration
-leaf/grass raking and/or removal
-seasonal raking from autumn leaves to the spring thaw that leaves residential yard road edges filled with gravel that's a pain to disperse or remove
-garden/flower garden weeding
-yard repair as in filling holes, seeding the ground with quality grass seed, removal of items/objects the are in ground or essentially stuck in the ground, and then said repairs
-yard repairs will happen with proper soil, sand, seed etc.
-grass seed will be researched prior to application so I know the grass will thrive. Not trying to waste my money on something that's not proper for the area and climate. Everyone wants pretty grass, if it's right for your area, region, climate, it should be fine, with proper care.
-Watering the lawn, gardens, or veg/flower beds. If water is accessible on the property being cared for. I do not own a tanker truck so it has to be from the property.
*Side Note: I will eventually add in snow shoveling, blowing, plowing, and roof snow raking, as part of my winter business to help sustain in the off season of grass maintenance/residential cleaning.
-Snow moving as a service:
-shoveling
-roof raking
-deicing
-dog friendly deicing (dependant on residents wishes, if i see dog activity on the property i will ask if they want dog safe salt, for them puppies pads)
-Roof shoveling comes with its own rates and a new service for potential customers. Scheduled roof shovelings every 2 to 3 snow falls or sooner. Maybe with 2 snowfalls. I can do it faster and for less money like this. Overall it may equate to more services but it won't be the expensive service that comes with deeper compact or heavy snow. I've seen the rates. And they're pretty steady at around $300-$500 for one service. Service providers know these people have to get that snow off or run a repair bill of a few thousand dollars if damage comes from lack of maintenance.
*If you need a path, driveway, porch or roof shovel and cleared I got that. I do not have a plow at this time or a snowblower. I would only be moving snow on the property from an area not wanted in, into a least used spot. Or just out of the way. I will be trying to acquire more equipment before next year's snowfall to help me in faster and more efficient work performance.
-General Help- if you don't have one specific thing, then that's fine, if you want to tell me what to do and how to do it, that's fine. In some cases people just need a helping hand, an hour of this or that. I want to help get that stuff done. I stack wood just fine. I can cut up some already downed trees. I can push back a brush wall. Need me to rake dog poo? Want help doing your own dump runs? You name it during that time, as long as I'm not doing unlicensed/license needed work, I'm all game. Just a guy that's a grunt that's trying to make a living. If it's a short amount of time please be considerate of me, i came here to help you, that's worth something, so if i was there for half hour and i called it $20.00, i did what you asked and didn't get you for a whole hour.
One thing to address this far is **ISSUE SERVICE** that i will address. Many people do not want a service provider of any sort in their personal stuff. Drawers, cabinets, closets, bedrooms, medicine cabinets, storage boxes, storage containers, or any closed space deemed by the owner to be private. Personally I do not want any issue with these spaces. If an owner would like help with said spaces I have no issue, but these are their personal spaces so it would have to be in writing, as part of service provided during service duties provided, consented to clean these said spaces. I will offer a checklist of things provided in lawn care, residential and property cleaning, waste removal, and these will be specific items listed in their own entirety, just so we are clear as to what I will be doing.
At this part I must address garbage, waste, and rubble removal. So I offer the service of running your said materials to the dump or waste service station. I will take this material to these places with your money. I am only charging the customer for the laborer, gas, and supplies to get this waste disposed of if they pay the bill made from the waste removed. If you do not want it removed from your property I will stack, pile, carry to the curb, or whatever it is you want done with it. As long as the disposal is with your money. For example, if I work for 3 hours doing lawn stuff, I have collected waste material during this work, that's 70 so far for just me, supplies and gas. The running time to the dump will still be at that same 20 an hour rate, and you will have a bill from me from the waste station. 2 different bills. You can send me with money, or I can do it and add what money was charged to me back to you through our service bill. Organic waste I will dispose of as environmentally safe and sound as permitted or needed. There will be no charge for organic waste that can in a sense dispose of itself over time. I'm here to make money, provide a service, and better my environment through cleanliness and maintenance.
On to services that will not be offered. Some at this time for lack of licensing.
See below (***) simple odd job guy repairs/fixes
-Single load dishes, i do not want to wash someone's dishes for the week and will not offer that as a service. I will however offer full cabinet cleanings and dish cleanings if requested prior to any kitchen cleaning. I understand that dishes are a kitchen item that should be cleaned. I don't want to be on someone's dish duty to say. Yes, I will count the load of dishes in a kitchen, at the time of cleaning, as part of the service. Past that I will not be scheduling times to go to a residence to do dishes. This will also be at my discretion, 2 sinks worth of dishes aren't bad, all the countertops and stove top is a chore in and of itself. Common sense will be used.
-I will not be cleaning bedrooms, at least not at this time.
-I will not do laundry
-I will not apply any outdoor chemicals, no weed killers/fertilizers/ or other pesticides. Special
licenses are required that I will not pursue at this time.
-I can not provide any service that has to do with structural maintenance, structural repair, interior
repairs.
-I can not replace or repair fixtures.
-I can not repair holes in the walls.
-I can not repair sinks or water fixtures.
-I can not work on electrical house components.
-I can not repair roofing materials.
-I can not lay concrete.
-I can not do framing.
-I can not build porches/decks.
-I can not replace or repair windows.
-I can not work on any hvac related problems.
(***) ***Special licenses are needed that I do not have at this time***
*** I will in fact during this next year, pursue my Dwelling Contractors Qualifier and License, which in turn will give me the credentials and license to provide most non-provided services listed that a handyman could do.
My next area of information is how I will charge and why.
-$30.00 for the first hour with a $20.00 rate after the first hour per hour
-$30.00 is $10 in gas off top to my business, $20.00 is regular hourly rate, with a
breakdown of $14.00 to the labore/me, and $6.00 back to my business.
-$20.00 rate with a $14.00 and $6.00 split if that second hour is a full hour. If it is a partial hour it with be at 15 minute increments of $5.00
-Example; I show up to mow and or clean, I'm there for 1 hour and 27 mins, that's $40.00. If I show up and the same work took me 1 hr 36 mins still, it's still gonna be $40.00. If I show up and work for 1 hr and 40 mins, that will be $45.00.
-I will be considerate of the fact that people will complain that 1 hr and 40 mins is not 1 hr
45 mins. Yes, its true, it's not 1 hr 45 mins, but i'm giving a leeway of about 6 to 7 mins
before i upcharge to the next 15 mins section of an hour. Please be realistical, a leeway
of about $2.50 is what i can give without feeling like i'm undercharging.
-Landscapers/lawn care providers and residential cleaning business can charge $30+ an
hour, for entry level employed workers, with company/employee split, that, at 70/30 is
way over my outlook. Look it up if need be.
-To explain a little bit more of that 70/30 breakdown. I as a business need to be profitable, or I will lose. I buy the supplies I need, I will go get them if I need it. I will need gas and oil. I will need cleaning supplies. I will need llc insurance. I do not know quite yet if i am charging the right rates but i'm a new business owner with no, absolutely no ownership experience. I will try to show my competence for general economics and the way of the world, but may have to adjust my rates accordingly to show a sustainable profit that will keep me going and growing. I'm not over shooting here, I may be undercutting myself if anything. But that's how I will grow, in knowledge and experience. Can't figure it out with just figuring, gotta put in some hours and see what's what. I'm keeping just under the generalized information I learned about rates. I figure that's a sales point right.
I have an outlook in the area that I live in, it's kind of an expensive place to live. A Lot of service providers take advantage of that. I plan to take one year, charge according to what i said so far. Adjust if my loss is because of lower rates, adjust to a more profitable rate yet stay under local standard. I'm not friends with any other service providers, I don't care about offending other business owners. That's the name of the business world. Be the best. Charge decent rates, do A+ work, have great customer service and be dependable. In growth I will adjust.
Lastly, I want to say a small amount about my inspiration, reasoning and dedication to my work and what I believe.
Quality of Life: as defined in the dictionary as a noun is: the standard of health, comfort, and happiness experienced by an individual or group.
I have a belief that through my hard work and dedication to my job I will help achieve and maintain a better quality of life for myself and the surrounding people and environment. Garbage and rubble lead to feelings of dilapidation. So does overgrown grass/weeds etc. Anyone to argue that point likes the waste. I do not. Happiness is struck. Comfort is struck. Lastly, what kinds of waste is it, what nastiness lies beneath, or what can be removed for better living quality. Everything from our air to our water can be polluted, damaged, or essentially hurt by our own hands. Our health was struck. I am no environmental expert. I am not part of any group etc that has to do with anything. Facebook is about it. I just want to better myself and better my surroundings. I like helping people and I like when my help does more for them than just labor itself.
Thank You for reading.
