How to Use the OER: Agrarian Learning Model
This Open Educational Resource (OER) is designed to support primary school teachers working with students aged 8–12 years. It offers a simplified, hands-on version of the full Agrarian Learning Model developed as part of our project.
The OER provides a quick, easy-to-navigate overview of the learning model, divided into structured modules and classroom-ready activities.
What’s Inside the OER?
5 Modules: Each module introduces a key topic related to agrarian and environmental learning.
3 Units per Module.
Every unit includes:
A concise summary of the topic
Practical activities to implement directly in the classroom
Direct links to the full PDF: If you want to explore a topic more deeply or get extended guidance, each unit contains a link to the corresponding section in the full PDF guide. These links take you directly to the right part of the document.

About the Project
The vision of this project is to empower primary school students with patience, perseverance, and environmental awareness through an engaging Agrarian Learning Model that makes knowledge applicable in everyday life.
Why this project?
There is a growing need for sustainable education and the development of key competencies among young learners. Studies show that students often lack the skills needed to adapt to a fast-changing world, and that education must evolve to meet 21st-century demands .
At the same time, climate change and environmental issues call for better education around sustainability. Environmental education helps learners gain the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to address global challenges.
Identified Problems
Students need support not only in building knowledge, but also in forming the attitudes and values required for ethical, responsible actions (OECD study).
There is a clear need to include sustainability skills, attitudes, and activities in school curricula to promote empathy, responsibility, and care for the environment and public health (Green Comp).
Our Solution: Agrarian Learning Model
We propose a blended approach that combines classroom learning with practical activities like gardening, farming, and animal care. This model helps students:
Develop critical thinking, perseverance, and adaptability
Gain a personal connection to environmental issues
See the relevance of learning in real-life contexts
Expected Impact
On Students:
Increase sustainability literacy and improve decision-making
Foster environmentally aware and empathetic citizens
Strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork
Make learning more engaging and practical
On Teachers:
Strengthen capacity to motivate and involve students
Gain tools and methods for innovative teaching
Feel more confident addressing sustainability topics
Improve the overall classroom environment through active learning
Let us grow a more sustainable future—together, through learning.
