I am an ESA CCI postdoctoral researcher interested in the physics of the climate system. I am now working on the GLAUCO project at the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department of the University of Milano-Bicocca.

By looking at long-term records of sea surface temperature (SST), wind speed, cloud cover and rainfall, the GLAUCO project aims at quantifying the importance of the fast air-sea interactions on the climate system. In particular, the mechanisms that mediate the atmospheric response to the oceanic thermal forcing will be studied at different spatio-temporal scales. At the same time, the control exerted on such mechanisms by the environmental conditions will be assessed. Local features will be characterized by appropriate regional studies within the global framework.

I have already worked on air-sea interactions at small and fast scales using atmospheric and oceanic numerical models, and observational products. In 2020, I also took part in the EUREC4A-OA field campaign in the Tropical Atlantic.

I am convinced that only if we know our world better we can guess the way towards a global sustainable future.

  • 6 Apr 2021: We published a Q. J. Roy. Meteor. Soc. paper on the sensitivity of some heavy rainfall simulations in Africa to PBL and MP schemes.

  • 15 Mar 2021: The GLAUCO ESA CCI project starts.
