I am a postdoctoral researcher interested in the physics of the climate system. I use different tools (from in-situ observations to high resolution numerical models) to mainly understand how the surface heterogeneities affect the atmospheric dynamics.
I have been looking at the effects of sea surface temperature fronts on the surface winds, low level clouds and rainfall using models, reanalysis, in situ and satellite data. I am now studying how the differential surface heating in future climates may impact the large-scale atmospheric dynamics.
With some friends and colleagues we have started doing dissemination activities in the mountains, with schools and the general public. Check our website out: CLIMALP-scienza in quota (in Italian).
I am convinced that only if we know our world better we can guess the way towards a global sustainable future.
