I am a tenure track researcher interested in the physics of the climate system. I use different tools (from in-situ observations to high resolution numerical models) to understand how the surface heterogeneities affect the atmospheric dynamics.
I have been looking at the effects of sea surface temperature fronts on the surface winds, low level clouds and rainfall using models, reanalysis, in situ and satellite data. I am now studying how the differential surface heating in future climates may impact the large-scale atmospheric dynamics and how the sub-mesoscale air-sea interactions can impact the climate system.
With some friends and colleagues we have started doing dissemination activities in the mountains, with schools and the general public. Check our website out: CLIMALP-scienza in quota (in Italian).
I am convinced that only if we know our world better we can guess the way towards a global sustainable future.
