This intensive two-day course introduces participants to the discipline of Agile Project Management, equipping them with the mindset, principles, and practical tools needed to manage projects in today’s fast-changing environments. The program blends theory with hands-on activities, guiding students through the fundamentals of Agile—including Scrum and other leading frameworks—and showing how Agile differs from traditional project management approaches.
Participants will learn how to build and lead Agile teams, plan and deliver value-driven projects, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Special focus is given to the transition process: how to start practicing Agile, what to expect during the shift, and strategies for overcoming common challenges when moving from traditional to Agile ways of working. By the end of the course, students will be ready to apply Agile practices in real-world settings and champion Agile transformation within their organizations.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain the core values, principles, and benefits of Agile Project Management and how Agile differs from traditional project management approaches.
Describe and compare leading Agile frameworks (such as Scrum and Kanban), including roles, events, and artifacts.
Apply Agile planning and delivery techniques, including creating and prioritizing backlogs, defining user stories, setting sprint goals, and facilitating key Agile ceremonies.
Build and lead effective Agile teams, understanding roles, responsibilities, and the importance of collaboration and servant leadership.
Demonstrate how to deliver value incrementally, manage changing requirements, and use feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Develop a practical transition plan for adopting Agile practices in their own teams or organizations, including identifying potential barriers and strategies for successful change management.
Reflect on and assess their own work, using Agile metrics and retrospectives to support ongoing learning and adaptation.
This course is designed for professionals at any level who want to understand, apply, and lead Agile Project Management practices—whether they are new to Agile or transitioning from traditional project management methods.
This course is designed to complement—not replace—the project management system that the company already uses. Its purpose is to enhance existing practices by integrating agile concepts alongside current project management approaches.
My approach to teaching Agile Project Management is highly interactive and iterative, designed to ensure deep understanding and practical application. Each concept will be introduced through a concise lecture, where we will define the key idea, illustrate it with real-world examples, and discuss recognized best practices.
Following each lecture segment, participants will engage in hands-on activities—such as articulating their own definition of an MVP and exploring how it could be implemented within their organization, or simulating Agile ceremonies like sprints and stand-up meetings. These exercises are crafted to encourage reflection, collaboration, and immediate application of newly learned concepts.
By alternating between focused instruction and experiential learning, this methodology reinforces comprehension and enables participants to connect theory with practice. This iterative cycle will be used throughout the two-day course to ensure ongoing assurance of learning and to equip participants with the confidence to apply Agile principles in their own work environments.
The APM Workbook will serve as the primary tool for assessing your understanding and progress throughout this course. Your responses and the effort you put into completing the APM Workbook will significantly influence your final grade. Therefore, it is essential that you engage actively in all class discussions, as these will help deepen your comprehension of the material and better prepare you to answer the workbook questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Please ensure that you complete each section of the APM Workbook with careful attention, as your participation and the quality of your answers will be a major factor in your overall evaluation for the course.
Discussion Groups: Engaging in group discussions allows learners to exchange ideas, ask questions, and clarify understanding. This active participation boosts retention significantly—often cited as around 50%.
Practice by Doing: Actually performing tasks or applying new knowledge through exercises, simulations, or real-world practice is even more effective. The model suggests learners retain about 70–75% of what they learn by doing.
Teaching Others: The most effective method is teaching the material to someone else. When you explain concepts or skills to others, you consolidate your own understanding, leading to retention rates as high as 90%.
Lecture: Involves listening to someone talk about a topic. This is the most passive form, with learners typically retaining only a small fraction of the information—often cited as around 5%.
Reading: Slightly more effective than lectures, but still passive. Retention is generally low because the learner is not actively engaging with the material.
Audio-Visual: Watching videos or presentations can be engaging, but remains mostly passive.
Demonstration: Observing someone else perform a task introduces some activity, but the learner is still not directly involved.
"See one, do one, teach one" is a classic mantra in medical education that highlights the three essential steps of mastering a new skill:
Observe an expert perform the task or procedure.
This step emphasizes the importance of attentive observation and learning by watching someone with experience.
Perform the task yourself, under supervision if needed.
Here, you apply what you’ve learned through observation, gaining hands-on experience.
Teach the skill to someone else.
Teaching solidifies your own understanding and helps spread knowledge within the team or community.
