Artificial General Intelligence Reading Group
Machine Learning Center
University of Southern California
Description
This is the website for the Artificial General Intelligence Reading Group at University of Southern California.
Ever since artificial intelligence (AI) was conceived, realizing artificial general intelligence (AGI) in machines has been a long standing goal of most AI researchers, scientists and pioneers. AGI brings together many AI concepts like representation learning, planning, reasoning, perception and control under a single umbrella. We at USC aim to gradually build towards this goal of achieving human-level or superior intelligence in machines.
In parallel with our research efforts, we maintain a reading group to discuss and track recent developments in the field of AGI. This page hosts the topics of interest and our reading list links.
Interests
We are interested in all topics pertaining to AGI research including (but not limited to):
- [AGI] Artificial General Intelligence
- [CL] Continual learning
- [FSL] Few-shot learning
- [IM] Intrinsic motivation in machines
- [UL] Unsupervised learning
- [RL] Reinforcement learning
- [MBP] Model-based Planning
- [IB] Inductive Biases for human-level reasoning
- [MeL] Meta-learning
- [CogArch] Cognitive Architectures

Nitin Kamra (Melady Lab, USC)
I am a Ph.D. Student in the Computer Science Department at University of Southern California (USC). I work with Prof. Yan Liu in Melady Lab on Artificial General Intelligence and human-level intelligence in machines.
I also have interest in studying multi-agent games and work on finding optimal strategies for Security Games with Deep Learning.
Donsuk Lee (Melady Lab, USC)
I am first-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science Department at University of Southern California. I recently joined Melady Lab led by Prof. Yan Liu. My research interest lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cognitive science: to build machines that can learn like humans.
Before coming to USC, I was a CS Master’s student at Stanford University, where I did research with Prof. Fei-Fei Li and Prof. Michael Bernstein on Computer Vision and Human-Computer Interaction.
