Principal Research and Development Engineer
Ansys Inc, USA.
Ali Aghabarati is a Principal Research and Development Engineer at Ansys Inc., USA. He is a member of the HFSS solver team working on developing Computational Electromagnetic simulation tools and conducting research in finite element methods for electromagnetics. Dr. Aghabarati’s expertise is mainly focused on large-scale electromagnetic modeling and efficient Maxwell solvers for finding the scattering parameters of microwave components and prediction of electromagnetic scattering. His primary interests include the advancement of Finite Element Methods in the frequency domain for wave scattering and quasi-static vector field problems.
He received his Ph.D. degree in Computational Electromagnetics under the supervision of Prof. Jon P. Webb from McGill University, Canada. The title of his thesis research is: "Multilevel and Algebraic Multigrid Methods for the Higher Order Finite Element Analysis of Time Harmonic Maxwell’s Equations". His research interests include the development and application of multilevel and algebraic multigrid methods, auxiliary space preconditioning, domain decomposition methods, hierarchical elements, adaptation, and automatic optimization. From 2014 to 2018, he worked as an R&D Scientist Engineer and Computational Algorithm Developer at Safe Engineering Services & Technologies Ltd in the area of electromagnetic compatibility, interference, grounding, lightning and electromagnetic shielding systems. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).
