AGEDA is the Association of Gender Equality and Diversity in Academia. We are a new Bocconi student association founded in 2021.

Welcome!

AGEDA's aim is to promote gender equality and diversity in academic working environments. To this end, we want to encourage exchange between scholars and students, initiate discussions on the topic of fair professional opportunities, and provide a platform to stay informed of  ongoing research in this field. Our key mission consists in raising awareness of persisting bias towards certain members of society. It is through knowledge and discussion that we will be able to overcome reservations and exploit academic potential to the fullest. We are a Bocconi student association, founded by PhD students in September 2021. Our members share a strong ambition to work in a diverse academic environment and are highly motivated to contribute to this aim through the promotion of research projects as well as the organization of events, workshops, and mentoring programs.

Coming Event on the 17th of April

How do we make academia more inclusive for people with disability?

It will be held in Room 42, Via Sarfatti 25 at 6:15pm

See you there!

8th March Aperitivo commemoration with an open discussion on the challenges of being a woman in Academia

We had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Paola Mariani with whom we had an honest discussion on the challenges of being a woman in the academic environment.

The discussion included the pressure of having to choose between your career and your family due to the negative perception of women with children and the insufficient policies established for families.

We adressed the importance of changing policies, of raising awareness about inequalities in academia and of encouraging solidarity between generations to foster greater support and drive change.

AGEDA hosted its first in-person event at Bocconi: "Developing and Advancing a Research Agenda"

Professors Catherine de Vries, Myriam Mariani and Alexander Kentikelenis participated as panelists in AGEDA's first in-person event at Bocconi last Wednesday 5 October. The goal of this panel was to shed light on the "hidden curriculum" of the research process, particularly on developing and advancing a research agenda in the early stages of the career. Ph.D. students joined the conversation and asked different questions about barriers they have faced during their academic careers.
