AK Soluplus Network Ltd ("we", "us", "our") operates the AfriUni mobile
application (package: com.afrilink.afriuni) ("the App"). This Privacy Policy
explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you
use AfriUni.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
a) Account Information
When you sign up, we collect:
- Email address
- Full name
- University affiliation
- Role (student, teacher, or administrator)
- Password (stored encrypted via Firebase Authentication)
b) Content You Provide
- Course materials uploaded by teachers (PDFs, images, documents)
- Announcements and course content
- Exercise and exam responses submitted by students
- Profile pictures (optional)
c) Technical Data
- Device model and OS version
- App version and crash logs (anonymized)
- Firebase-generated user IDs
- Authentication timestamps
2. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
We use collected information only to:
- Provide core app functionality (course access, content delivery)
- Authenticate users and secure accounts
- Enable teachers to share materials with students
- Improve app stability via anonymous crash reporting
- Comply with legal obligations
We DO NOT sell your data. We DO NOT use it for advertising.
3. DATA SHARING
Your data is shared only with:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage) — Google's Privacy Policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Your university administrators (course content and academic records only)
- Law enforcement when legally required
4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
- Data is stored on Google Firebase servers (Europe/US regions)
- All transmissions use HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Access is restricted via Firebase Security Rules
5. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent at any time

6. ACCOUNT DELETION
You can delete your account by:
- In-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account
- By email: send request to afriuni.support@gmail.com
Upon deletion, all your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days,
except where retention is required by law.
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
AfriUni is intended for university students and staff aged 16+. We do not
knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has
provided us data, contact us immediately.
8. PERMISSIONS USED BY THE APP
- INTERNET: to sync with Firebase
- CAMERA: to let teachers photograph course materials (only when triggered by user action)
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: to alert users of new announcements
- Photo Picker (Android 13+): to let teachers select images/PDFs to upload (no permission required)
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in-app and by
email. Continued use of AfriUni after changes constitutes acceptance.
