Training Application and Funding Support

The organizing Team has secured funds from the Association for Tree-ring Research (ATR) and the Tree-r0ng society (TRS) to support candidates who are citizens of African countries. Support ranges from partial to full funding towards registration fees. The team is seeking applications from individuals in need of financial support. Students and those who have not benefitted from these funds before will be given priority.
To apply for any of the these funds, you are required to write a half-page letter by providing the following information:
your interest in attending the training and how this experience will benefit your career.
your interest in environmental science and sustainability and how dendrochronology can help you.
how the knowledge acquired through this training will be applied back home
the financial need for the grant
The award is on a first-come first-served basis and will close as soon as all funds are awarded.

We are still receiving payments till 11th July 2025. Registration costs vary by participant country of origin level of income and professional classification.

High-income countries (Professional and students): $1,500
Low- and middle-income countries (Professional): $1,300
Low- and middle-income countries (Students): $900
You can pay using either a VISA Card or Direct Bank Transfer. You will be able to download the Registration form with Bank details after you have registered.

Participants will receive certificates that reflect the level of training they received at fieldschool. Returning or advanced attendees will earn higher level certificates that are based on individual training. Advanced participants will obtain credentials in teaching the basics of dendrochronology, advanced computer analyses, or theoretical underpinning of the field. Participants are able to register for training at the following levels:
Level 1 - I am attending to develop a basic understanding of dendrochronology.
Level 2 - I already know how to do sample collection and preparation in dendrochronology and am attending to learn more advanced computer techniques in dendrochronology.
Level 3 - I already know and can teach the basics of dendrochronology and would like to improve my skills in analytical techniques and understanding the theoretical components of the field.

Mention in your communication to Chapa lodge that you are going for DENDRO Training. Make your room reservation as early as possible to secure a room.
You are all required to sleep at Chapa lodge for logistical reasons. The organizing team will not be responsible of any logistical issues that may arise if you decide to book at a different lodge.
The training will take place at the Chapa Vanguard Lodge, Livingstone, Zambia.
Tentative Schedule coming soon
Typically, we have an arrival day, followed by field tour day, field work day, then approximately 4 days of lab work and lectures with one day for an excursion, followed by final presentation day.
