Africa ELTA 9th International Conference on English Language Teaching

Africa ELTA is pleased to announce the Call for Proposals for its 9th Annual International Conference on ELT, which will be held on 20-22 June 2025 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania under the theme:
Innovating ELT in Africa
There will be a Pre-conference event (20 June 2025) and the main two-day conference will be on 21-22 June 2025. We welcome submissions that address the main theme or any of the subthemes below:
Professional Learning Networks for Teachers in Africa
Learner-centered Practices in the African ELT classroom
Curriculum Development
AI in the Language Classroom
Teaching Large and Low-resource Classes
Intercultural Education in the Language Classroom
Language Assessment
Technology Integration in the African Language Classroom
Gender and Inclusion Issues in Education
Justice and Equity in Education Policy
Teaching English in Multilingual Settings
Perspectives on World Englishes
Successful L2 Pedagogies
Note: Presentations that address relevant issues in ELT and that can contribute to the advancement of ELT in Africa are welcome
Session Types
Presentation (30 minutes: 25 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A)
Research papers/teaching approaches
Workshop (45 minutes: 40 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A)
Hands-on activities that promote classroom practice.
Panel Discussion (90 minutes: 80 minutes +10 minutes Q&A, 3 to 5 presenters)
Discuss a topic of relevance to the conference theme or current ELT issue by examining various dimensions including theoretical and practical implications.
Teaching Tips (10 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A)
Practical teaching ideas with the exception of storytelling
Storytelling (15 minutes: 10 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A)
Stories with practical implications
General Guidelines
Proposals should be submitted via this LINK ONLY. Africa ELTA does not have the resources to fund attendees, hence, it is important that presenters secure funding or self-fund to attend the conference.
Title: 10 words maximum (Capitalize the initials of content words only)
Abstract: 50 words maximum
Session description: 250 words maximum
Bio: 40 words maximum
Citations: APA style (add link)
Please note that proposals exceeding the stipulated word count will not be considered.
