It is intended that this one-stop platform which hosts links to a number of websites holding free Black books, will allow children all over the world to access free and affordable Black children’s literature; helping to transforming the life of thousands of children.
With internet connection, schools and communities will be able to access several websites holding free books. With a projector and screen linked to a phone or laptop schools and libraries etc., can host group reading sessions.
We highly advocate supporting authors, bookstores and publishing houses and strongly encourage you to purchase copies of books you like.
This project came about as a result of collaborative research sponsored by the British Council under the Sub-Saharan Africa Arts Cultural Exchange Programme. Simon Education's SEADS Project provides educational resources and teacher training workshops to school in Africa and the Caribbean. Our work highlighted the immense negative impact of book poverty and the desperate need to find an affordable alternative way of bringing good quality books to the millions of children across the globe who do not have access to books. This website was created in collaboration with Crater Library & Publishers (Nigeria), which is a digital library and publishing platform.
