Hi! I am Aflatun Kaeser, a PhD student in Economics at the School of Economics, Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA. In addition, starting in Fall 2026, I will work as a Teaching Assistant for the Master of Applied Economics and Data Science program at the University of Pennsylvania.
I work in the intersection of International Economics, Development and Environment. I use tools from empirical international trade, industrial organization, and experimental economics to answer questions related to trade, development, and environment. I am also interested in quantitative methods related to trade and the environment.
I hold a Master of Science (MS) in Economics from the Huntsman School of Business and another Master’s in Economics and Statistics from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Utah State University, USA.
I previously served as a Lecturer of Economics at BRAC University (BRACU), Bangladesh, where I co-founded Bangladesh’s first Behavioral Experiment Lab. I also worked as a Graduate Research Fellow at the Center for Growth and Opportunity at Utah State University.
I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Microeconomics, Econometrics, Statistics, and Machine Learning, aiming to inspire the next generation of economists and data scientists. In addition, I mentor students applying for higher studies and advise government agencies, NGOs, and private companies on trade, Development, Environment, Leadership, Management, and Public Policy—helping to drive impactful change and informed decision-making.
Since 2013, I have been actively involved in the conservation of nature and natural resources, collaborating with various organizations to promote sustainable practices.
