Knowledge:

As I continue my time at UMD I plan on continuing to take Public Health Science course work and elective courses such as Health and Sociology, and Child and Maternity health. This school year I will be a Resident Assistant in one of the dorms on campus and I plan on getting more involved on campus, such as joining a dance club.

I am not sure what career I want to go into, however, it will definitely be a career in the health industry. At the moment Pediatric and Maternity Health interest me or I know from GPH that maternal and child health is the number one health indicator of a community. With that, I will consider going to Graduate school and Medical school. Inbetween continuing my education, I would love to travel, maybe get involved with the PeaceCorps.

Evidence:

When searching for a healthcare position, I hope to find a position that I feel is aware of health and well-being determinants such as the social determinants of health and know the correct way to address health issues in terms of assessment, incorprating the community, and building trust, feasibility, and sustainability. I will definetly incorporate concepts that I have learned in the Global Public Health Scholars Program and School of Public Health concepts into my position to increase our chances of accomplishing the Public Health goal, to" [protect] and [improve] the health of people and their communities".

Skills I have aquired during my time in the GPH program:

Communication and Critical Thinking
- I have become more articulate in describing the possible causes of a health issue, identifying why the health issue is difficult to address, and identifying sustainable evidenceand community based interventions.
Problem Solving
Improved my bias:
- In our family science course we learned about social determinatns of health, intra and inter relationship skills, and privialge. I feel more well-rounded after my time in the program. I now think in a more empathetic and cirous manner instead of throughjudgement.
