Hello and welcome to AFGE Local 1911’s website. This is an effort to get information out to members in a non-work setting. We found that contacting and helping members of the bargaining unit was really difficult over the furlough. We couldn’t get information and the help we were working on out to employees. It was a good lesson.

Prior to the furlough, we also heard requests to find out just what we were doing for the unit, how could members attend meetings, and what informal get togethers were happening? Well, we heard this and hope that this site can be a place to get that information out to the unit.

In the event of a furlough this Friday the 15^th of February, there is some information that we are adding in "Resources" about applying for unemployment and some links for resources. We will be updating this information if this furlough continues for any length of time.

A note on names. “Bargaining Unit Employees”– these are the employees of the Northwest Oregon District that are not supervisors or work leads (LEO and HR too). So if you work alongside us, you’re in the unit. Occasionally we will reference “Members in Good Standing” – these are members within the bargaining unit who have dues collected from their paycheck to support the Union. These are the Union members. They get to vote in elections and serve as stewards or executive board members. To be clear, the Union represents ALL Bargaining Unit Employees.

Alright, enough with the lessons. Know that this website is just getting out on its shaky legs and that it will need some time to firm up and get to running. Constructive help is welcome.
