Diversity Youth Mentors (DYM) is another name for the District Wide Piedmont Affinity Mentorship Program. DYM (Diversity Youth Mentors) is specific to PMS students and we meet both as a lunchtime club meeting on campus as well as meetings after school and weekends.
Affinity Mentors also come during Academy periods during the school day to teach on topics such as Interrupting Bias, Gender Identities, Neurodiverse Identities and Beauty Standards. Our goal is to uphold and celebrate diverse identities across our student body in the critical middle school years where students start to explore who they are, and their different identities. We center the shared experiences of underrepresented cultural, ethnic, religious, neurodiverse, and gender-expansive identities by creating connections between them and HS Affinity Mentors - who also share these backgrounds.Â
