I was just a kid when I first fell in love with the magic of filmmaking. Not by watching movies, but by watching how they were made. While others were captivated by the stories on screen, I was fascinated by the unseen hands shaping them. The behind-the-scenes footage, the director calling shots, the crew moving like clockwork, it all felt like a secret world I desperately wanted to be a part of.
As an only child who came from a small family where filmmaking wasn’t just unfamiliar, and it was unheard of. Cameras, scripts, and film sets were as foreign to them as they were thrilling to me. So, when I told them I wanted to be a filmmaker, I was met with uncertainty. “Can you really make a living from this?” “Are you sure this is the right path?” Their concerns were real, but so was my passion.
Determined to prove myself, I took my first real step into the industry by pursuing a Diploma in Film at UiTM Puncak Perdana, where I learned the fundamentals of storytelling, cinematography, and production. That foundation led me to dive even deeper, majoring in Directing for my Bachelor’s Degree, refining my craft and shaping my vision as a filmmaker.
With every project I created, every late night spent perfecting a shot, and every recognition I earned, my family’s doubts slowly turned into belief. Now, I carry their trust as fuel, pushing myself to master the art of directing and carve my name among Malaysia’s finest filmmakers.
Because for me, filmmaking isn’t just about telling stories. It’s about making people feel, see, and believe in something bigger than themselves. And that’s exactly what I intend to do, one frame at a time.

Every great filmmaker starts somewhere, and for me, that journey began at UiTM Puncak Perdana, where I took my first proper steps into the world of filmmaking. I enrolled in the Diploma in Film, eager to turn my childhood fascination into real knowledge. Here, I learned the fundamentals: cinematography, storytelling, editing, and the delicate dance of bringing a vision to life. It was in these early years that I built the foundation of my craft, understanding that filmmaking isn’t just about capturing images, but about shaping emotions, guiding perspectives, and commanding a story.
But a solid foundation was never enough, I wanted more. So, I pursued my Bachelor of Film (Hons) in Directing, where I pushed myself further, refining my style and stepping into leadership. By Semester 3 and 4, I wasn’t just a student learning about directing, I was a director. I helmed two short films, “Last Job” and “Daseem”, both of which challenged me to master the art of visual storytelling and actor direction. I also directed the documentary “Beyond The Tics”, a project that tested my ability to bring real-life narratives to the screen with authenticity and impact.
Even before that, in Semester 2, I had the opportunity to collaborate with my seniors on their short film, stepping into the role of Production Designer. It was a new challenge, crafting the visual world of a story, ensuring that every detail in the frame spoke volumes. That experience opened my eyes to the collaborative power of filmmaking and the importance of every role behind the camera.
Through these years, UiTM was more than just a university, it was my training ground. Every project, every challenge, and every late night spent perfecting a frame shaped me into the filmmaker I am today. By the time I stepped onto a real set, I wasn’t a stranger to the industry. I wasn’t awkward, hesitant, or lost. I knew what needed to be done.
Because filmmaking isn’t just something I learned. It’s something I live.
