I began my internship at Radius One Sdn Bhd since October 2024 with an open mind and an eagerness to learn. As a well-respected production company in Malaysia, Radius One has built a name for itself by producing quality dramas that resonate with audiences. I was fortunate to be placed under the Production Media Team, which allowed me to experience various aspects of both technical and creative departments. From the first day, I was treated not as an outsider, but as a young professional stepping into the real world of television storytelling.
My responsibilities covered a wide range of tasks, beginning with pre-production involvement for the drama series “Seribu Tahun” directed by Shahrulezad Mohameddin. I took part in organising and managing talent casting, recording audition scenes, and designing official casting posters. These tasks required both attention to detail and creative intuition. I wasn’t just behind the scenes — I was part of the team’s visualisation process, ensuring that casting footage felt as close to real scenes as possible.
Soon after, I joined the set of “Berbahagi Suami” directed by Uchee Fukada, where I began capturing Behind-The-Scenes (BTS) content — including photography, videography, and interviews with lead actors such as Amar Baharin, Siti Elizad, and Sharifah Husna. I was entrusted with creating engaging promotional materials from these sessions, which were later used on official social media platforms to support the drama’s publicity campaign. This on-ground exposure opened my eyes to the importance of storytelling not just within the drama, but also around it — through content that builds anticipation and audience connection.
In addition to field work, I was deeply involved in post-production, editing interview sessions, cutting BTS footage into short-form content for TikTok and Instagram, and creating social media teasers for each episode. My skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and visual storytelling were sharpened during this phase. I also had the exciting chance to attend a final pre-production meeting for Seribu Tahun, where I contributed creative input for the storyline in Episode 5 — marking my first official experience in narrative development at a professional level.
Throughout the production of Seribu Tahun, I also operated the DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone for aerial shots in Hulu Langat, Sungai Buloh, and Langat — an experience that improved both my technical and visual direction skills. Beyond drone work, I conducted a portrait photoshoot for a key character, Dato’ Norish, with my photo enlarged and framed as a prop used on set — a surreal full-circle moment as a creative.
There were many memorable highlights, including the day when Berbahagi Suami split into two production units at The Fleur, TTDI — a rare approach in Malaysian television. Director Uchee Fukada led Team A while Nizam Zakaria took charge of Team B. I captured the energy, urgency, and rhythm of that moment and turned it into a special content piece, showcasing how television magic comes together, even under pressure.
Later, I covered a media event and panel discussion on polygamy for Berbahagi Suami, featuring Dr. Shazif and attended by media outlets like Astro, Melodi, Oh My Media, and Huzz. I was also present at Meletop at Astro Bukit Jalil to document the promotional appearance of the drama’s cast. These moments taught me how public relations and production go hand-in-hand in this industry.
My internship also took me outstation to Sungai Besar for a three-day shoot across paddy fields and small-town settings, capturing the rich rural aesthetic that contributed to Seribu Tahun’s authenticity. I was then invited to join the production team for a Hari Raya commercial shoot in Tanjung Karang, featuring Syafie Naswip and Dian P. Ramlee, which ended with a wrap party for Berbahagi Suami — celebrating a completed project and a growing network of professionals I was lucky to work alongside.
Towards the final phase of my internship, I had the opportunity to witness a high-level production meeting for the upcoming drama Dia Bukan Syurga, attended by executive producers Fazli and Hisham, director Rashid Sibir, and Astro’s drama department. Following that, I joined the set of Dia Bukan Syurga itself — one of the biggest hits on Malaysian TV at the time, starring Niezam Zaidi, Ezzanie Jasny, and Nazim Othman. The cast and crew on this set were some of the most welcoming and vibrant I’ve ever worked with. They treated me like family, and the energy was unmatched.
After we wrapped Dia Bukan Syurga, something completely unexpected happened — I was offered a chance to join the writers’ room for an upcoming 40-episode Astro Tiara slot drama. What started as an internship ended with a dream opportunity: I am now serving as the Head Writer, entrusted with leading the entire narrative direction for a full-length prime-time series. This milestone has been surreal, and I carry every lesson, every mistake, and every mentor’s advice with me into this next chapter.
In conclusion, my internship at Radius One has been nothing short of life-changing. It was more than just an industry experience — it was personal growth, skill-building, and the opening of new doors. I am deeply grateful to all the producers, directors, crew members, and fellow creatives who have guided and inspired me along the way. What began with curiosity has now become conviction — that I am meant to tell stories, and that I am ready to write the next one.
