The first book of the World of Aevis series details the story of five young soldiers who join the Stony Isle's military to protect their families from the cruel invader Empress Koraya.

Bruno and Raul Sharpfangs are the sons of one of the kingdom's longest-serving generals. From a young age, they've known they would serve in the military, and have been training at home just as long. Bruno's leadership and Raul's loyalty prove essential to their squad.

Finn Ironfoot is the son of the Starhold's best-known blacksmith. Early on in the war, his mother left to serve, while he stayed to help his father work on armor and weapons for the Stony Isle military. But once he reaches an age where he can join, he does so, though not to seek revenge - he wants to end the war before it claims his other parent as well. 

Edan Brooks is nothing important, at least his in eyes. His family lives in a coastal town, and he's terrified of his parents and siblings getting killed in a siege. So he puts on a brave face and joins the military, to make sure nothing will ever happen to them.

George Caddell comes from an infamous family, and doesn't usually associate much with them. But maybe, he can be the one to bring some good fortune back to the Shadow-walker name. After he comes home a hero, of course.

These five dogs' paths will cross and intertwine in ways they never predicted when they first joined up. Their bond will carry them through the fight, all the way till their final, vicious battle.
