Such motor drives find application in the areas of Railway traction, ship propulsion and air & natural gas compressors.
Typical power rating ranges from 500 kW to few MW while rated operating frequency varies between 50 Hz to 130 Hz.
Motor drives operating at speeds > 5000 rpm fulfill necessary power density requirements desired by aircrafts and high performance electric vehicles.
Electric motor may have rated fundamental frequency going as high as 5 kHz while power rating could be restricted to 100 kW.
Solar and wind farms are two prominent renewable sources for power generation. India and the whole world is looking towards maximum utilization of the same.
Power level of a traditional wind turbine or solar farm may range between 1 MW to 10 MW.
